PRODUCT COMMON DEFECT GUIDELINE

At KICKS CREW, we take pride in being a global e-commerce platform dedicated to delivering authentic sneakers and apparel to customers around the world. Our selection is sourced from verified brand retailers and premium boutiques, and each item is subject to a consistent internal quality check to ensure it aligns with our established inspection criteria.

Before any product reaches our customers, it undergoes a thorough inspection process conducted by our experienced CREW. This includes careful evaluation of the item itself, as well as its packaging and included accessories, to ensure everything is in premium condition.

Despite these rigorous quality control measures, certain imperfections may occasionally be present due to factors such as manufacturing processes, material characteristics, release date, or handling during global transit. In some cases, older or early-release items may exhibit age-related wear or production variations that are beyond our control.

This guideline outlines the most common defects that may be observed, helping to set clear expectations and ensure transparency in our quality assurance process.

1. Manufacturing Processes

Mass production of sneakers can result in minor variations or imperfections during the manufacturing stage. These are typically cosmetic and do not affect the performance or authenticity of the product.

  • Excessive Glue
Visible glue marks around the midsole or upper areas can occur during assembly. These are common, especially in performance or high-demand models.

  • Stitching or Lining Irregularities
Slight misalignment or uneven stitching may result from the fast-paced production process; these do not impact structural integrity.

  • Asymmetry
Small differences between the left and right shoe in shape, stitching, pattern placement, or overall dimensions can occur—particularly with hand-finished or uniquely shaped designs.

2. Material Characteristics

Different materials respond differently to handling, climate, and time, leading to natural imperfections.

  • Creases
Creasing is a common and natural characteristic of materials such as leather or synthetic uppers. These materials are designed to flex and may show light folds—especially around the toe box—even before wear. Such creases are often formed during the manufacturing or packaging process and should not be seen as a defect or result of improper handling.

  • Suede Imperfections
Slight nap inconsistencies or brushing marks can appear on color-blocked panels or delicately finished suede.

  • Cracks

    • Fine surface fissures on patent-leather overlays, often near flex points (toe or heel).

    • Midsole rubber cracking, where cushioning material stiffens over time and develops hairline splits.

    • Painted overlay flaking/cracking, seen as spiderweb patterns on foam or PU panels of vintage releases.

These imperfections are generally cosmetic and do not compromise the shoe’s performance or authenticity.

3. Release Date

The age of a product—especially deadstock or older releases—can influence its condition even when brand new.

  • Yellowing or Oxidation
Midsole rubber or clear soles may yellow over time due to exposure to air and light.

  • Discoloration
Mild color shifts or fading can occur depending on storage conditions and age.

  • Wear and Tear
Older stock may exhibit shelf wear such as surface scratches, subtle material fatigue, or early signs of deterioration—such as sole separation—especially in models released several years ago. These effects can occur even if the product is brand new and unworn, due to natural aging of materials like glue, foam, and rubber over time.

4. Logistics Handling

Global shipping and storage can sometimes affect the condition of the packaging.

  • Shoebox Dents and Minor Tears
Shoeboxes may arrive with dents, creases, or minor surface tears as a result of international shipping and handling. As long as the box remains structurally intact—meaning it is not torn apart and can still be properly closed—these cosmetic imperfections do not compromise the condition or authenticity of the product inside.

5. Fit Variety

Fit and sizing can vary across brands, models, and manufacturing batches.

  • Inconsistent Sizing
Sizing inconsistencies may occur due to differences in brand sizing standards, model design, or manufacturing variations. We recommend referring to the specific size guide provided with each product.

  • Size Chart Measurements
Our published size charts indicate body (foot) measurements—not the dimensions of the product itself. For best results, measure your foot or body length and compare it to the chart to determine your ideal size.

6. Others

  • Different Labels
Products may display various origin labels reflecting outsourced production in multiple factories worldwide. Label variations are normal and do not affect authenticity.

Our goal at KICKS CREW is to ensure each customer receives an authentic product that meets consistent inspection criteria. We hope this guideline clarifies the nature of common imperfections and supports your confidence when shopping with us.
